Seasonal Flu Vaccinations
The Surgery usually starts the season flu vaccination clinics for anyone over the aged of 65 with a chronic illness around mid-September. Anyone who is eligible for the vaccination will be contact either via text message if we have a valid mobile number or alternatively by telephone.
We then offer the flu vaccine to anyone under the age of 65 with a chronic illness and to children under the starting school age. This is due to the seasonal flu being dangerous for these groups of patients if they catch it.
The Practice is aware of the announcement recently by the Department for Health and Social Care that anyone aged 50-64 has now been added to the eligible cohorts for this year's flu vaccine.
We are now working to order additional vaccine supply and plan for more flu clinics in December. We ask that patients refrain from ringing the practice with inquiries on this and we will communicate the new arrangements for flu clinics in the near future.
All patients with a valid mobile contact number in their record will receive a text message when these clinics become available.
